Rooted in the quiet beauty of South Carolina’s Lowcountry, the Spring Island Residence evokes a gracious, lived-in authenticity—where time-honored materials, layered textures, and regional character come together in a refined coastal retreat. Designed by Historical Concepts and brought to life with interiors by Heather Chadduck, the home strikes a careful balance between formality and warmth, tradition and comfort.

Millwork Artisans was privileged to contribute a fully custom package of wood windows and doors, each handcrafted to reflect the architecture’s timeless spirit while honoring its Lowcountry vernacular roots.

Our scope included:

• Traditional Wood Double-Hung Windows
  Designed with historically scaled sashes and authentic divided lite patterns, these windows provide ventilation, rhythm, and a sense of period-correct elegance. Custom profiles and casing details were matched to the home’s millwork.
• Operable Casement Windows
  Select rooms feature wood casement units that allow full, unobstructed openings to breezes and views. Hardware and finish selections were tailored to complement the soft, collected interiors.
• French Doors
  Tall, light-filled French doors open to porches, gardens, and galleries throughout the home, enhancing indoor-outdoor flow and reinforcing the architectural symmetry.
• Custom Entry Door with Applied Moldings & Leaded Glass
  The home’s main entry is a showpiece of artisanal detail—a bespoke wood door featuring hand-applied panel moldings and leaded glass inserts that catch the light and nod to historical precedent. This signature element sets the tone for the craftsmanship found throughout the residence.

Each piece was fabricated with care and precision, ensuring the fenestration package would not only perform but also feel deeply integrated into the story of the home. The result is a residence that feels rooted, enduring, and unmistakably Southern—elevated by detail, design, and the art of traditional building.
