Timeless charm and sophisticated scale define The Dowager Inn, a meticulously crafted residence conceived by Historical Concepts with interiors by Bryan Graybill. Rooted in classical formality yet adapted for luxurious modern living, the home draws inspiration from historic Southern inns, interpreted with a light hand and deliberate grandeur.

Millwork Artisans provided a full suite of custom window and door systems that elevate the architectural rhythm and functionality of the home. Every opening was designed not only to bring in light and air, but to reinforce the Inn’s unmistakable sense of permanence and presence.

Our scope included:

• Large Format Double-Hung Windows
  These over-scaled units establish vertical grandeur while maintaining traditional detailing and operability. Divided lites and historically proportioned stiles and rails offer authenticity with modern performance.
• Bi-Folding Casement Systems
  Where flexibility and openness were desired, we delivered outward-opening bi-folding casement windows, perfect for seasonal living spaces.
• French Doors & Lift-and-Slide Pocketing Doors
  A blend of classic and contemporary, traditional French doors were used in formal rooms, while flush-track lift-and-slide systems pocket into adjacent walls, blurring the line between indoors and out in entertaining areas.
• Custom Carriage Doors
  Oversized wood carriage doors—designed in collaboration with the architecture team—were fabricated for garage and utility structures, providing a distinctive presence with concealed modern hardware and smooth, balanced operation.

Each unit was meticulously crafted to complement the Inn’s traditional massing and natural material palette. From the finely milled joinery to the seamless integration of concealed tracks and high-performance glazing, every detail reflects our commitment to enduring craftsmanship.
