About Millwork Artisans
Millwork Artisans is a family-owned company based in Charleston, SC, dedicated to crafting high-performance windows, doors, and custom millwork. Founded over 30 years ago by David Simmons, the small shop initially served his own construction projects before becoming Millwork Artisans and expanding in 2009 to provide premium products for other clients. From the beginning, innovation and quality were at the heart of our work, leading us to pursue impact testing right away
In 2012, David’s son, Drew, joined the company after graduating from the University of Miami’s School of Architecture, reinforcing our commitment to precision engineering and design excellence. Over the years, we’ve continuously invested in research, development, and state-of-the-art production capabilities, pushing the boundaries of performance and craftsmanship.
Our journey has been marked by major milestones, including the launch of a cutting-edgefacility in 2022 with high-production automation, the opening of a second fully automated plantfor thermally broken stainless steel windows in 2023, and the successful testing of the tallest impact-rated wood door and window on the market in 2024. In 2025, we expanded once again,enhancing our glazing and painting capabilities to further refine our products.
Millwork Artisans has collaborated with many AD100 architects, delivering bespoke solutions for luxury projects across the U.S. Our work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Galerie, Milieu, Town & Country, Veranda, and Rizzoli, reflecting our reputation for craftsmanship,performance, and innovation.
